I just saw a news story about
a dog that is able to accurately sniff out c diff in hospitals.
www.cbsnews.com/news/superbugs-vancouver-hospital-dog-trained-tracks-drug-resistant-bacteria/
He's adorable and very useful.

Well playing with a dog sounds much more fun than a typical stool test is. All we need is to train our home pets to detect c diff and we'd be golden

Now there's a testing method I would be happy to submit to. Daily! Hey it's in Vancouver, I could actually do this.
Too bad it's a spaniel... if it were a lab, you could call it a lab test. (sorry, old groaner of a joke, but someone had to say it!).
Okay, someone has to say this one too: if they used a cat, they could call it a cat scan!

Wow serenity, those were some bad ones, but I've told worse in my day!!!
I never had c diff, but I see people struggle with it over and over again. Wouldn't it be nice if this was your dog and you could just go to to the GI and be like "yup, i have it again" instead of going through all the nonsense to get a test and wait for results???

Yes that would be fantastic! Hey I wonder if they could train a dog to sniff out inflammation so that before someone with IBD got to the point where they are exhibiting symptoms, the dog could alert
you your colon was becoming inflamed so you should up your meds or whatever. I had no symptoms but my most recent c-scope showed I was had inflammation going on. An IBD sniffer dog could have alert
ed me much earlier!

I'm just finishing my Flagyl for testing positive for c-diff. My cats were of course, useless at detecting it. Lol, I'm sure they'd consider it beneath their dignity to do something so pedantic as helping out a human. 😆

That's incredible..such a good idea, and the dog has a success rate that ranges between 95 and 100 percent...amazing!
