Something More Effective than Imuran

U. C. Late onset, 50's, genetic, been on all initial treatments, then long periods of high dose prednisone. Finally remission with Imuran for a number of years. But, doc attempted reduction in drug, flare started months ago and still somewhat active. Now terrible full body, joint pain and overwhelming fatigue.
Colonoscopy imminent and hoping for no new problems but definitely need a newer drug to reach and sustain remission. Any thoughts gratefully appreciated.

Hi: Doc was hoping to reduce high dosage as liver enzymes were good. After less than a week was back on original dosage but difficulties persist. Did add Ucerin which did nothing, then switched to Ucerin foam, still no change. Small stools, some narrow, some explosive diarrhea, and bleeding every two to three days. I had been active, horseback riding as a senior, and am now so frustrated with uncertainty of problems. Thanks for responding!!

Agreed with nssg. I would add enemas.

When I got into remission I had to take steroids too. Well for me the Uceris worked wonders but that's not the case for everyone. I don't understand why your doc took you off of Imuran with the liver being good and you in remission. Sorry but that's careless of him in my opinion.

If to want something stronger you could go on remicade, humira or simponi. Any of the new biologicals are "stronger" than Imuran.

I hope you find something good that works for you. Flaring sucks big time.
