Something new and different.
Probably wont hit as a mainstream treatment for quite some time.

What a blessing this will be for many people, not just UC people.
The researcher K. Janda had a "personal interest" because he contracted C. dif himself and then started looking into better ways to treat. Cannot beat a scientist with a personal interest in finding a cure.

these seem to be cousins to mesalamines. at least they trace back to the bark of the willow tree. I love that tree.

That is good news!
Currently, what's on offer in the way of antibiotics it too unpredictable in my view, with C Difficile sometimes returning to wreak havoc on your body for the second time.
Also, I like that they found with lab-dish experiments that the salicylanilides had minimal impact on "good" gut bacteria. Let us hope that they can push forward with this as it is very much needed.
