Is this a side effect of 6mp?

I started 6mp about 10 days ago. Immediately I had weird muscle stiffness with tingling but for the most part that is gone. Right after starting it I've had sores on my tongue which I've never had before except when I started taking Simponi but with Simponi they went away and so far with 6mp they haven't. My main concern is that I had weird pain in my nose, like it was too dry and it hurts and I've had bloody noses which I never have. That hasn't gone away and in addition I now have sores on the back of my throat. So my question is does that sound like a side effect of 6mp? If it is will they go away? Or because I'm now on 6mp and Simponi is my body just having a hard time clearing some germs and I have some sort of cold/infection?

My husband thinks they're only going to get worse and is bugging me to stop taking it. I'm having my blood test this week to check my levels on it and then seeing my GI at the end of the week so I wanted to wait and talk to to the GI about it. But of course I don't want it to get worse because it is painful and awful, but at the same time that's what happens when you're sick too so I'm just not sure if 6mp is to blame. Any advice?

If it is 6mp I'm nervous about going on to Entyvio since she gave me the option of 6mp or that. I really really want to return to my life which has pretty much stopped for two years because of abdominal pain and urgency but my scans keep showing my UC should be mild. Is it bad to start Entyvio now? Just not sure where that would leave me if it gets worse.

I haven't heard of 6mp causing mouth sores before. Do you think you have a virus? Maybe go to your PCP so they can take a look in your mouth and see what's up.

My main 6mp side effects were elevated liver enzymes and peripheral neuropathy. I stopped it years ago and just stick to imuran now (no side effects).

I didn't have those symptoms with 6mp either. When I first started I had fatigue, headaches, mild stomach pain and hair loss. I agree that maybe you should see your primary to make sure you don't have some sort of virus. Sometimes when you start an immune suppressing drug, you can have something in your system that the body normally takes care of. Add in an immune suppressing drug, your body can't take care of it anymore.

I sunburn easier on 6mp, and no other side effects. What you describe doesn't sound common for that combination of medications.

When were you last on prednisone? Steroids can cause thrush and other yeast/fungus overgrowth in the mouth, throat and other areas of the digestive tract.

Colds and flus can cause dryness and such as well.

Some uc medications can cause Peripheral Neuropathy (tingling, loss of sensation). Pretty rare, but worthy of mentioning to your doctor. You said the tingling did go away though...
