I still have a question what came first the inflammation or the fungal bacteria biofilm
mess.
Might be the same type of mess in UC who knows.
But in UC I think the mucus is first breached then the immune
cascade starts.
Looks like time to dig out the woo,thyme,garlic,cinnamon, and any other killers/biofilm busters.

Here is something on cinnamon oil a from china study against the fungus with humans.
Also kills the Candida tropicalis
FS: I forget do you have UC or crohns.
If UC it is interesting that you respond well to the oils.

I threw Oil of Oregano at my UC starting early 2014 )after diagnosis in 2013) and that's when things took a good turn aka remission. Don't take it anymore - instead relying on a combination of anti-fungal herbs in tea form that also addresses oxidative stress from the intestinal breach.

OM, to answer your question, I have UC, but am a bit atypical as it never started in my rectum. Rather, have right sided UC with rectal sparing. My sister has crohns, and I've heard of some people who have a diagnosis of crohns/colitis, so maybe I have been misdiagnosed. Or maybe the distinction between the two is more complicated.

Have been in remission for years, but had watery stools and abdominal pain until a combination of SCD, WOO, cloves, tumeric and coconut kefir helped to settle things down. Still have secondary autoimmune arthritis, but when my UC is better, my arthritis is better. If I deviate from SCD, the arthritis comes back and my stool turns watery again. And I only use WOO and cloves to get things back on track, not long term.

I wanted to tell you that about a month or two ago I had a throat issue. It felt like something was stuck in the back of it. I have always wondered about the fungal thing since you posted an article a year or so ago about a few patients that were treated with Difulcan and experienced remission I believe it said. I think this one was Crohn's disease as well. Would have to dig around on here for it.

My throat issue was the perfect excuse to lay into my doc for a prescription of Nystatin swish and swallow. I insisted swallow because of the difulcan study and I was very curios. So oral treatment for Candidia. I told her I had the characteristic white spots and I really suspected thrush was the cause. And there were legitimate white spots at first anyway. Most likely it was viral however, but I am unsure.

In any case, while on the swish and swallow along with my usual WOO/Thyme, there was a drastic improvement in formed BM's and food tolerance at about day 3. After 5 days of it I was quite happy.

Since stopping things are still good, but not like they were while I was taking Nystatin. I was considering trying to talk her into doing a second round, or Difulcan. Originally when I first went to her with the throat issue she said she does not like Difulcan because it can be hard on the liver and without a formal diagnosis she did't want to prescribe it. She gave in on the Nystatin cause I pushed hard...

Cinnamon oil is rough on my gut. I tried it along with the WOO/Thyme and clove oil both with and without. For me the WOO/thyme combo has always been the best. I do not notice an improvement with either cinnamon or clove. Sometimes I get more IBS symptoms when I take them. But that is just me. Maybe others would be different.

Quickly, on the MAP side of things - Mycobacteria were originally thought to be fungus. One of the ideas some of the MAP researchers have is that that they share similar cell wall proteins and the MAP infection causes the body to respond to certain fungi components. Anyway, just a hypothesis on their part.

That was my experience, cinnamon and clove oil were very hard to take (white thyme oil also harsh), much harsher than WOO, and cleared out my colon. I wondered if a different mfr. would give better results but did not pursue it. Haven't taken WOO in a while because remission but remains in my go-to first aid kit (which is very small).

Will have to chew on this for a bit - HSP70 as it's a tad mentally confusing.

This (HSP70) is used as an experimental vaccine for Johne's disease as they state it is a major component of mycobacterial cell walls. They use the protein (HSP70) along with an adjuvant to stimulate the immune response.

So in the one paper on Crohn's they are suggesting that if NOD2 is mutated, then NOD2 signalling is basically defective when new bacterial cell wall components are around (i.e. HSP70)... so say when a bacteria dies off or is degraded etc... so they can fly under the radar of the immune system because the immune system cannot detect and bind to the bacterial cell wall protein fragments (HSP70).

With the Johne's vaccine they administer HSP70 and an adjuvant and this stimulates B-cell's to pump out antibodies that will now bind to the HSP70 protein. The immune system responds and can now attack things that have antibodies bound to HSP70 (i.e. MAP in their cell wall intact form).

A couple of things come to mind. With the Johne's vaccine, maybe the antibody produced by the B-cell acts in a similar way by restoring/extending NOD2 signalling? as now HSP70 might be over-expressed in a simile manner... Or maybe it activates a different immune pathway response altogether.

Regardless, the vaccine helps but does not cure Johne's disease in cattle. But there is maybe something within all this.

EDIT EDIT: What I am not clear on is I think there is more than one HSP70... or slightly different versions of the same protein based on genetics as these seem to also be used (and produced by our bodies) for cell signalling etc. Have to do some learning perhaps. I would think the MAP HSP70 is a little different than one(s) our bodies produce. But I am unclear on all this.
