Ringworm Treatment (attn Red_34)

Hey Red_34, I was trying to search through the archives to see where your ringworm saga ended up 3 years ago, but couldn't find it so started a new thread. How did your ringworm saga end?

I have been dealing with a ringworm infection on my shin for about a month. The first two weeks it did not look like classic ringworm so I was totally mistreating it, finally got to a derm as it formed into a ring and a scraping confirmed what it is.

I am now on generic Lamisil cream and it's gotten better but there are still some stubborn little bumps and patches. I still have 1.5 more weeks but my derm is concerned it's too far into the follicles for a cream to be effective. However, she's VERY wary of oral lamisil for me given my UC, medications, and family history of liver conditions.

I am also starting to worry. I also have some in a toenail that I'm trying to treat with a topical, which likely won't work, too. But I'm not sure what to do if the cream hasn't totally cleared it up in the next two weeks...

Anyone done an oral anti-fungal while on a biologic??? Or with UC in general?

Thank you for the reply!! Ah interesting, yeah I've had a mild case of that. Unfortunately/fortunately this is confirmed ringworm through a scraping.

My GI replied this morning saying I am ok to take an anti-fungal and it won't interact with UC meds (which I believe) but I'm not sure she took into account the liver risks with Lamisil? Perhaps I can connect my derm and GI as they are in the same system...
