Tips for collecting stool sample

I need to collect a stool sample to bring to the lab. I read the directions and there are three vials. Any tips for making it go smoother? I know I need to do it, but I'm trying to figure out the logistics. I have to get over it, I know. I felt this way at first about the mesalamine enemas and I am OK with doing them now. I'm certainly becoming very well acquainted with that region of my body now ;).

They gave me a little, round plastic bowl but it doesn't hook on the toilet like the one in the link does.

Sadly smallfry, mine was always the same way. I always just sat down, put my hand under my butt holding the cup and I prayed my aim was good.

for my daughter, I use a regular plastic shopping bag and tape it toward the end of the toilet seat(recommended by her pediatrician), works very well. That plastic hat never worked out.

I did it this morning. I used an old plastic container that was bigger than the one they provided. It went OK until I had one of the vials open so I could scoop the sample in, but I somehow knocked over the vial and all of the liquid spilled out (before I could add the sample to the vial). :(

Hopefully they'll be able to get what they need from it and if not I guess I'll need to redo it.
