I used to get bad external hemmies, sometimes the size of a small grape. My GI saw it during one visit and immediately sent me across the hall to a general surgeon. In his office he numbed the hemmie (that's the part that sucks!), then he would make two small incisions and squeeze out the clot. There would be an empty shell of skin which the body would eventually absorb over the next few days. It was INSTANT relief. There was the pain from the procedure but by the next day it was 80 percent better and within 2-3 days it wasn't an issue at all, no pain.
