Asacol didn't do anything the first time I tried it five months ago, but I was in a severe flare and I don't think my GI ever supposed me properly. Everyone here said it was way too little. I have a new GI now (one who's much better and isn't a complete flake), and he wants to put me on Remicade, but it keeps getting pushed back because other crap keeps happening. (Dental issues.) Unfortunately in the meantime I've been stuck on 40mg of Prednisone for three months...
Three weeks ago I tested positive for C Diff and just finished up my treatment for that, and for the first time in over a year I've had nothing but solid poop for two weeks, and I'm going once or twice a day. All of my cramping has vanished and I'm feeling freaking amazing. I'm really wondering if MAYBE all this time, my actual disease itself was less severe than thought and I've had a recurring C Diff infection that's continually exacerbated it.
So since I'm stuck in limbo with the Remicade while my dental issues resolve, I'm curious to experiment around. I know I still have some level of inflammation because I do have urgency usually with the first bowel movement of the day, and my stools have 'edges' on them. Maybe Asacol would help?
