Help!!!

When i got my first colonoscopy all they found was proctitis. I was being treated with canasa but everytime i would get off my symptoms would return. So she had me get a sigmoidoscopy and took biopsies and said that she noticed that it was up higher so she said i have colitis. She put me on lialda but a few days later i started flaring she told me to go off the lialda and put me on uceris for 2 months and while on that got another sigmoidoscopy which she said i was in remission. I then started apriso with the uceris but about two days after i got off the uceris i started have rectal pressure really bad,
constant bms and some blood and mucus. So now i am going back on uceris and went off apriso. So now im not sure what to do. She is having me get bloodwork to see if i am a candidate for these other strong medications. Im thinking about asking her to try balsalazide. My aunt is on that and works for her but does that jave mesamalmine?

You should have stayed on the canasa if it was helping, it's a maintenance drug so you'd never come off of it if it works. For UC you need a maintenance drug, if drugs are what help you not diet modification then you'll be taking drugs the rest of your life and never stop them until they stop working.

I've never heard of mesalamine causing UC symptoms unless you're allergic. Are you allergic to mesalamine? I believe balsalazide it a different form of mesalamine yes, but I could be wrong.

After mesalamine the next tier is immunomodulators (6MP or Imuran), then biologics (Humira, Remicade, Simponi, Entyvio), then drug trials like Xeljanz or Stelara and then Surgery.

Im not sure if i am allergic but my dr said that since i tried two mesamalmine pills and they both seem to caise a flare then my body must not be able to handle mesamalmine but the canasa seems to help maybe not totally but some. I am going to get a second opinion because i dont understa d why she just didnt keep me on cansa indefinitely she only kept me on it for 2 weeks and two days after i stopped the rectal pressure came back so im on it again for 2 more weeks.
