Does this sound like UC or something else?

Hi there,

I have had bowel issues for number of years and still don't know what it is. I am waiting to see a specialist but it is taking quite a while.

My back story is (and excuse me for the details...) that I have had intestinal bleeding for years (I am 29 and have had this since I was a teenager), it used to be most frequent around that time of the month, I could actually always tell when that time was coming because I'd start passing some blood in BMs, then it would get quite bad for a few days (there was once or twice I literally passed nothing but blood, like a thick mucous type), and then it would all but go away for a few weeks (not completely, but it was only a small amount of blood in comparison). When I had cramps it would often be bowel pain, and I'd sit on the toilet a lot feeling I needed to go.

A few years ago I went on birth control to treat adult acne and I skip the sugar pills because it's saved my skin and I no longer have to deal with the pain. I also found that the intestinal bleeding all but stopped, except for a tiny amount on occasion. The in the middle of last year I started having random pain for no reason, that lasted 3 days, and suddenly all this bleeding came back, along with excessive gas (it was CONSTANT) and each day I would have either constipation or diarrhoea with a LOT of blood. It gradually died down over a few weeks, though I also found my immune system seemed to vanish as I was coming down with colds every few weeks and had a number of health issues show up, and when I would get a cold I would also find the bleeding would start again.

Ever since then I go between no symptoms to mucous varying amounts of blood, and either stabbing bowel pain or a burning stomach pain that twice has been so bad I've nearly fainted. Any symptoms I get are random, I don't always get any pain before any bleeding, e.g. this morning I passed a lot of mucousy blood which was the first time in weeks, but don't recall any pain.
I've noticed sometimes lately I've been going more frequently too, I go anywhere between 1 and 5 times a day (once a day is normal for me). A few weeks ago I went about 7 times and it was like I was passing water and blood but not much else, and I did actually have pain that day. When I got home from work I pretty much had to crawl through my front door and the stabbing bowel pain I had was so bad I was pretty much having visions of Jesus while sitting on the toilet, but again nothing but mucous and watery blood showed.

I have had am external haemorrhoid once or twice before so wonder if that may have been the cause, or if the haemorrhoid is caused by the problem.

As I mentioned I am waiting to see someone, but it's taking a while. I have no idea what could be causing it. Bowel problems do run in my family but not this problem (more things like bowel cancer, diverticulitis, etc), and I said nothing for years (literally over a decade) until the random incident I had last year when I decided something is definitely off.

While I am not looking for an online diagnosis, I'm wondering if anyone here can give me their opinions on what it sounds like it could be.

I'm on the waiting list to have a colonoscopy done yes. And I have noticed if I eat high fibre sometimes it causes me to need to go more, like 4 times a day instead of once.
