Pain killers -- severe pain after tooth extraction

Yesterday I had my upper front tooth extracted. Unfortunately the extraction was difficult since the tooth broke under gums. And since I can't take any pain killers due to my UC I am in severe pain already for the second day. The pain is especially unbearable at evening/night. The worst is that it seems the pain is becoming more severe and at this point entire upper jaw on right side hurts like hell. I tried icing but it relieves pain just for a couple of minutes. Tried rinsing mouth with salt water and vodka and it was helping for short time. For sake is there anything I could take that would help with the pain and not upset my stomach?

Tylenol doesn't help at all? It is safe to take. You could even ask for a script for Tylenol 3, which has codeine, but I am allergic to it so I can't take it.

there are lots of narcotic pain killers you can take. i had percoset after my molar was extracted.

for a front tooth i am amazed you did not get a script

What DB said. I have had some surgeries since UC, and percoset and Vicodin have not caused me any gut issues. I have also taken some Tramadol with no GI issues - though eventually I developed a sensitivity to it, an itchy skin rash.

I agree something with codeine in it is fine to take. I've never had a problem and have had multiple dental surgeries.

Perhaps something else going on.
Was the root infected, I have had a couple wisdom teeth pulled and a regular molar, no real pain
after the fact.
If I were to get a root canal they give me those little blue steroid pills take for about 2 days.
Also perhaps some sort of nerve pain depending where the nerves run in the mouth.
If the root nerves were still alive they do not take well to being ripped in half.

I don't understand why you're not taking painkillers. I took vicoden for my root canal, but unfortunately it made me sick. there are tons of options. Tramadol can help. I'd call for a script. Pointless to suffer. Most narcotics have a side effect of constipation - which would be a dream for me if I were flaring.
