Hi all -
So, colonoscopy with blue dye (chromoscopy) was this morning. There were 5 polyps! (Last scoping was 13 months ago, also with dye.)
The report says: diminutive polyps at 40 cm and 60 cm, removed with cold forceps.
- 15 mm polyp at 30 cm
- 6 mm polyp at 28 cm
- 10 mm polyp at 27 cm... these three were removed with a hot snare.
Diffuse moderate inflammation from 1 to 20 cm. Multiple biopsies were taken for surveillance.

The Doc told me that some? all? of the polyps were flat (I was still drugged. DH was there to listen but is in the other room as I write this; I will check with him later.) I asked if they were serrated; he said that Pathology will show that.

Interestingly, this is the first time in several years that I have not shown inflammation in the ascending colon and also cecal patch.

This was my first time using Suprep. I was impressed with how, um, dramatically it worked as compared to the Miralax I've used the last several years.

So, Doc will call me when he has the path results. I'll share them here.

I'd wait on the biopsies on the polyps and not worry for now on them.

Diffuse moderate inflammation is very typical of UC, perfectly normal finding. Found to 20 cms is pretty minimal, it's rectum and sigmoid involvement. It's continuous starting at the rectum and therefore normal for UC.

I am sorry you had polyps. Hopefully they are nothing serious. It's good they are gone. Didn't you ahve a serated polyp in the past?

NSSG - good memory! Yes, the path report showed one about 17 months ago. But when I had a repeat scoping, chromoscopy, several months later, it did not show up - so either the path report was wrong or the doc snipped the whole thing out without even realizing he was doing it.

I am thrilled there was no apparent inflammation higher up (though we shall see what the path reports show) but I am really surprised at the lower inflammation, since I've basically been on rectals since August. (I had tapered off steroid enemas in October but obvious inflammation recurred so I started up again. Now I have been tapering off those and using Canasa on the non-steroid nights.)

As I said elsewhere recently, Rowasa has never helped me, unfortunately. When I speak to the GI I will bring up the possibility of SF.

Meanwhile, because there has been high and "spreading" (the GI's word) inflammation the last few annual scopings, I have been approved for Simponi, have my savings card, had a 25 minute conversation with the guy from that company.... so the path results may define whether or not I "go there!"
