Hi all
Started 20mg pred foam last night went through the motions but never had a sensation of any of the foam entering the rectum at all, then realised I'd not shook the canister once. Would this cause none to leave the application tube? Should I have had another try after shaking the can? I was too scared to try again because I'm in one dose a day
Anyone any opinions?
Cheers

I've never used the foams. Just make sure to follow the instructions and i am sure you'll be fine.

Hi Hampy
I am new to using a foam med, mine is Uceris. Ive been on it for just over a week now. I expected to feel the foam but there really isn't any acknowledgement that the foam is "there" when it has been inserted. I thought of foam like my hair mousse, that it would expand...but I guess it does expand but without feeling?? It's weird.
If in doubt, I wouldn't have applied again either until next dose. Not sure if that's the correct answer, but you may still have gotten the dose and just didn't know???
have you applied another application yet?

Hi gozalot yes I've applied 2 more since then and have now the sensation that it is going in! Still don't know what to make of it yesterday morning I noticed slightly less blood or it didn't fill the bowl and I only went 3 x in the more which was previously 4 to 6 but then last night felt really weak again lost appetite etc. This morning still blood but again not as much and have only been twice but still diarrhoea. To be honest as this is the first time I've been on steroids I think I was just hoping for a miracle rather than being realistic. I've managed to keep the foam in for 4 hrs each time but then I needed to go by then anyway. I would agree though seeing the pictures on the box about
how far this stuff will travel up the colon I'm surprised it doesn't feel like it's expanding. Any way gozalot how'd you and your flare?

I'm with you, was kinda hoping for more results from the steroid. That's good you can tell you received the foam.
I am bleeding more now since the scope which was over a week ago. Today is kinda one of the down days, thought I would have had some progression at this point. My followup is in 8 days. I have so many upcoming events and I'm getting nervous about
them, have to reel that nervousness in and just focus on the now. I made myself go get groceries yesterday just to get out of the house. Wish I had better news to report.

Ditto soynomore, UC takes a whole lot of patience. Healing takes months as there's nothing instant-gratification about
it, unfortunately.

I let the foam expand in the insertion tube first. It is like hair mousse - it expands first and then you insert. I don't think you can overdose yourself with the foam. Sometimes I think it's in, and it's not, and I have to give myself another dose. I find the foam way easier to retain than the liquid enema. Good luck!

Hi all thanks for the replies your all so kind
I understand I need to be patient but i have never experienced anything like this before I'm so fatigued got zero appetite. I feel that the foam is helping a bit the mornings are better I only had 2 x bms in 13 hrs which after 2-3 weeks of 9-10 x per day is an improvement and slightly less bleeding in the morning but once I get to 3 to 4pm it all starts coming back which is so frustrating I wish I could take the foam twice daily to help with the evenings as I go so hot and cold before and after bms in the evening!
Thanks for all the replies you people are amazing
