"Yeah, food intolerances are definitely not the same thing as a flare-up"
would you mind taking the time to explain the differences ? like what are the symptoms of a food intolerance compared to symptoms of a flare up -
Food intolerances causes IBS-like symptoms, e.g. diarrhoea, cramping, gas, stomach pain, urgency. There usually isn't any blood, but if you have hemmies there may be blood as well.
A flare-up is active inflammation. It can cause all the symptoms I've just listed, plus blood, fever (usually low-grade), weight loss, anaemia, extra-intestinal manifestations (e.g. joint pain), fissures, abscesses and fistulas (usually in Crohn's). Inflammatory markers are usually raised. You may need to be hospitalised or have surgery.
Basically if there is no active inflammation to be seen on a scope, you are not flaring. If you're still having symptoms then it's IBS, food intolerances, SIBO, c. diff infection, or whatever....
all my scopes show UC - blood occurs with all my flares - as well as all the other symptoms you listed for a flare-up - no hemmies -
point being, i have all the symptoms of UC, my scopes have all shown UC - but you say i don't have UC because why again ??????????????
