thanks everyone.after reading all of your thoughts,i think surgery is a last option and you can get surgery at anytime, there is nothing like you are too late for this or anything like that.right?
and i think sometimes drugs dont work if you are eating something that your colon is not ok with.am i right?
For the majority, surgery is a last resort. Some have surgery earlier due to philosophical reasons "there's no way I'd ever go on the hardcore meds" is a sometimes mentioned one. There are emergency surgeries for those who cannot wait for meds to work due to health and risks of perforations. There's special exceptions for certain outlier situations (3timechamp claims such a situation, but I'm no doctor and cannot say). I'd have many asterisks referring to pages of special disclaimers with every single post if I covered every exception and situation lol. But broadly speaking, yes, surgery is a last resort for the majority. And there's the simple fact that 25% of UC patients ultimately need surgery.
For me, remicade (a biologic) is the only UC medication to put me into a remission. I struggled for 2 years prior to going the biologic route.
