A few weeks ago I eliminated all sugars and dairy to see if it helped with the mucous - to no avail. I guess slowly I've fallen into the mentality that "since I'm suffering so much at least I deserve to eat that piece of cake/popsicle/donut... " Doesn't quite work that way
It doesn't work that way for weight loss, unfortunately... >_>
But I know what you mean: I figure as I'm going to suffer anyway, I might as well suffer with something I actually really like. I find the only thing which really makes any difference is just eating less. But right now I have a decent appetite so that isn't as easy to do as it sounds.
As far is fibre is concerned, some folks add a fibre supplement like psyllium husk to their diet. I've never tried that, but a small amount of soluble fibre, e.g. the sort that's found in a bowl of oatmeal, does seem to firm up my stool in a positive way. Trouble is, I can't eat 3 bowls of oatmeal a day every day, so dinner continues to be an ongoing issue for me. Meat, potatoes, etc. - it all sucks going through.
