So I had my annual colonoscopy today. I have been having zero symptoms, zero problems so I wasn't expecting to hear this. The Dr said I was in remission but that I had microscopic inflammation throughout my entire colon. He took biopsies and said we will talk again when the biopsy results come in.

I know inflammation is bad so does this mean I'll have to look into a medication change? I'm at the max dose of Lialda and doing SF Rowasa nightly right now. Any input is appreciated!

How could he say you had microscopic inflammation before getting the biopsy results? If he saw inflammation, it's not microscopic. If he didn't see inflammation, he couldn't yet know that you have microscopic inflammation.

In any case, if it turns out that you do, it will depend to some extent on what the biopsies show. It may be that since you're feeling well, and that the inflammation is only micro and not macro, that there is no reason to change or up your treatment.

Ha, good point. I was groggy from the anastasia when the Dr came in so this is based off of what my husband remembers.

Spoke with the GI and saw the pathology report. I have no symptoms but the scope showed active mild inflammation throughout the whole colon. No dysplasia.
GI is recommending we move on to other meds. We discussed Humira or Entyvio. He wants to meet with me in a week so we can talk about what I want to do. We'll repeat colonoscopy in 6 months to make sure new med is working.

I'm really nervous about changing meds. I had a very bad experience while on Imuran so I'm leaning toward Entyvio or Remicade.
