Yes, ulcerative colitis is for life whether you're currently in a remission or flaring.
Short term disabilities are easy to obtain when you're flaring. Were you able to get longterm disability for uc?

is this private insurance disability? very hard to get social security disability, so i wonder.
i would wait longer than 4 weeks before declaring remission.
the coverage is for incapacity due to symptoms - not diagnosis. if you accept payments after no longer incapacitated that is criminal fraud.
