Hard to say. Certainly see a dermatologist, if you haven't already. A GP is a good start, but they're just a generalist and a specialist could be a lot more helpful.
I do know that we're much more prone to having skin issues (dry itchy skin, contact-dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema) than the general population. Those of us with the most severe and aggressive cases of UC more so.
With UC our immune system attacks our large intestine causing the symptoms we all know and loathe. Most skin issues are an immune attack, either as an allergic reaction/sensitivity or a full-blown auto immune inflammation-based attack. It can be an extra-intestinal manifestation of UC or even a sexond autoimmune disease (as sometimes they come in 2's or 3's). I've seen many UC with skin issues threads over the years. Skin issues hits 20 percent or less of us.
I've had multiple episodes of contact-dermatitis as a reaction to harsh body soaps and shampoos. Now i use very mild, non scented versions meant for those with psoriasis and other skin issues, and that's solved it.
