i've spent some time looking for this probiotic (www.genuinehealth.com/store/family/advanced-gut-health?gclid=CMzgheXi2dICFZC1wAodqK8ICQ) at various online stores, but it seems noone is sending it to Europe. Maybe anyone here has managed to getit in Europe?

Yes.....special TT.
..i suggested it to a few people. It's one of the few that have Reuteri in it.

YES....lots of good strains and reuteri. pb4 is who introduced reuteri to me.

Aww, shucks....had I known about the 50 I would have done that instead. That's why I bought two boxes, I planned on taking these 15 billions twice per day. Next time ;-)

I just received mine today and took my first one. They don't mention "with or without food" but they do say it can transit through stomach acid. So I took it after my meal. I may not do that again though.....maybe on empty instead?

How do you guys handle dosing probiotics?

Bedtime emptyish stomach about 1 or so hrs after meds and supplements.

OK, thanks quincy. I'll try that timeframe out from now on.

Earlier in the thread you mentioned that you liked this because it has the reuteri in it. I take it this one has evidence of working well for a number of people here? I see you take the primadophilus reuteri, could you tell me the brand name? thanks !

EDIT: I just ordered the 90 count Vcaps of the Natures way brand.....it has three strains (one being the reuteri) and 5 billion count. I think I'll take this along side my Advanced gut Health.

not that you asked, but i would advise against doing that - the old "too many cooks in the kitchen" - or something like that -

some folks do have negative reactions to certain probiotics - mixing them may not give you an accurate picture as to the effectiveness for each one if they are used together -

The reuteri in the AGH is lower than the Primadophilus (which can be taken up to 3x daily). I used to double it when flaring.

I have one bottle left, and that will be the end since it's not distributed in Canada any longer.

I mix probiotics with more strains than just single. Sometimes I double, other times not. My primary two are the Ultimate Flora Critical Care and the AGH alternating with the Primadophilus Reuteri.

I gave the p. Reuteri to my last cat and the UFCC to my present cat. (Lower dosage of course).

You can alternate days with both or take them together and see what works best for you. I would take them at bedtime.....my preference based on my research. If you take it during the day you may have some discomfort and think they are causing a problem.

My take on it....experiment. I've never had a problem with mixing the strains I use, nor when I double them. You have to find what's comfortable for your digestive system.

Great suggestions you two.....I will indeed experiment & keep you posted. I'll try them separate first in single and double doses, and then try them together. My previous 3 brands were completely uneventful. Nothing bad, but nothing good either.

The primadophilus are enteric coated and are released in the small intestine. Seems the AGH are not enteric coated but say they survive the stomach and do their work once into the intestine.

Keep them both in the fridge.

For some reason I just believed these probiotics would go down to the colon? probably too much reading about SIBO for me. I remember seeing something about it being dangerous to add bacteria to the small intestine?

A case of too much reading, I think. I believed I had everything from a virus, to parasites, to candida, to SIBO at one point or another. I exhausted them all. Except for gluten.....I have yet to try a GF diet.

There are bacteria in the entire digestive tract. Not all bacteria work in the same way or in the same area, and yes, sometimes they get out of whack.

You aren't going to cure your UC or be in total control, take in information, but don't take it with fear base understanding and the belief you're doing everything wrong or that you need so many rules in order to eat or function.

You're at an easily impressionable state....you will drive yourself crazy and lose those important symptom facts in order to understand what's going on. It fluctuates, but don't take the position of micromanaging 24/7. Note, yes.
Because it can change in an hour and all is good.

Ask for a blood test for gluten.

Duly noted, and agreed ....and I will ask about that test, too.

Also, if you ever need any probiotics shipped, I'd be happy to do that. I am in Michigan, so not to far away.

The best lesson you can learn is that UC cannot be rationalized, there are no absolute rights and wrongs, and results vary a lot patient-to-patient. It doesn't matter to you what works for me, because there is no guarantees my solution works for you (highly individualized). Rather, your best to experiment and see what truly works for you. It's good to have a big toolbox with many tools to use, so certainly learn what you can and set some things aside within your toolbox as things you'd try out.

If you are a person who likes to control and know what is next, then UC will infuriate you to no end. There's no predicting ahead, what should work might not despite the best preparations and research, and flares randomly happen despite following all of your rules. The moment you start taking UC for granted and forgetting about it is just when it comes roaring back into your life and becoming annoying again. It's just UC... You roll with it after you've had it for a while, know what to expect, and shrug and deal with UC when it pops up again.

Marjie - so i understand you had some unpleasant " events" after taking it? Quincy - i take Primadophilus Reuteri (Nature's Way) only once a day (i buy it in powder form), i didn't know it can be taken 3 times daily. Did i understand correctly - if you double it, you take six times daily? that's quite a high dose!

Hi ewa, no, I actually just started taking it. My previous probiotics have been completely uneventful so far. Hoping this will be different !
