Hi and welcome to the forum. Fatigue is a common complaint with UC patients like ourselves. Do you know if you are anemic (have a low blood-iron concentration), as that's a typical UC complication that causes fatigue. I'm sure they ran a lot of bloodwork on you while you were in the hospital, I would ask. We can get iron-infusions, take iron supplements, and increase our dietary iron intake to get our numbers back up. We can also be fatigued if we have very low vitamin B, or D (also can be tested with a blood test). We are more prone to have low folate levels (one of the B-vitamins).
Flares do take a lot out of us, we can be malnourished, weak due to rapid weight-loss, and those do get reversed n time as we feel better.
It's likely the hospital gave you IV-steroids and those can make us bloated. Are you still on a daily steroid pill? Generally the bloating goes away several weeks after we are completely off of steroids. In the meantime go lightly with salt, as it only makes bloating and water retention worse while we are on the steroids.
