sin.......Problem solved as in quickly?
Katerina....don't lump mesalamine in if you've been on pred. .
Hairloss through hormonal changes is classic with prednisone, but it also happens with injury to body, extreme changes from diet, illness and pregnancy.
What happens typically is that dormant stage is prolonged....but keep in mind that a new hair growing pushes out the dormant hair. We lose at least 100 hair daily and replace all hair around 3 - 6 years since each hair only grows to a certain length before it becomes dormant. Hair grows average a half inch a month....takes almost 3 months for determination of cessation, dormancy, new hair growing and poking through the scalp and much longer to see progress of growth.
Prednisone will cause interruption of the normal cycle bigtime.
What one can do is initially have blood testing of thyroid and any pertinent vitamins and minerals such as b vitamins, zinc, iron, etc.
There are vitamins available directed for hair growth.
Hair growth products made by Bosley contain Minoxidil.....could be an option for you if you haven't noticed a change after 4ish months regarding shedding. Bosley and Nioxin have wash, condition and topical products to help stimulate the scalp and have hair look and feel thicker.
Hang tough....things will get back to normal with time.
