UC with Crohns symptoms?

My GI clearly diagnosed me with UC not Crohns. My surgeon also said it was a clear case of UC, not Crohns. Both had biopsies that confirmed it as well. However, I had an perianal abscess and I also get ulcers in my mouth from time to time. Usually people say those are Crohns symptoms. Chances that you get these with UC...?

I think everyone gets a canker sore here and there - and I mean once a year or once every few years. So rarely, why, do you get them all the time or do you mean once a year or less? Abscess is much more common with Crohn's. Have you had symptoms since surgery? If not, I'd chalk it up to a random abscess. If you had recurrence it may be more questionable.

Abscess was once in between my surgeries (1 and 2, and a little after 2). Been fine since then. In terms of mouth ulcers, maybe once every few months or so. I guess there's other things that can cause this as well though.

The abscess could be from the surgery and an infection. I'm not sure that holds true with perianal abscesses but abscesses are a common complication with CR surgeries.

I had a small abscess and so have other jpouch members. I wouldn't worry about the cankersores

I've been getting mout sores very frequently. Every time I eat lemons and limes or sometimes from too much salt. Every dr tells me all signs still lead to uc.

I think if we list all of our symptoms it could point to so many other diseases.

Thanks guys. Makes me feel a little more at rest. Seeing how I already have a JPouch, it'd be quite the unwanted news of having Crohns not UC.

Gonna be honest and say those symptoms (excruciatingly painful deep mouth ulcers and then an abscess-turned-fistula) are exactly what changed my diagnosis from UC to Crohn's...
Even though I have never shown inflammation outside the colon. I tested negative for all Crohn's indicators. I have had UC for 13 years and *my disease came on when I quit smoking--smoking definitely used to help--if I still smoked I would probably be fine* and smoking is known to make Crohn's worse, not better... Even though the ONLY symptoms I had are the ones you described, my IBD Specialist diagnosed me with Crohn's.
So, there's that.
