Suddenly MUCH more blood!

I've been flaring since January and bleeding to some degree for an entire year. Sometimes just on the TP others coloring the water. Usually longer I go between using the bathroom the more blood I see, as though it's had time to build up in there. For the past 2 days there has been a sudden increase! It colors the water every time and seems to be dripping out of me. I notice large clots on the TP too.

I've never had hemorrhoids or anything like that. The PA at my GI office ordered bloodwork (CBC). And looks like the most out of whack is my white blood cell count. Anyone ever have nearly normal hemoglobin but dangerously low iron?

Also this sudden crazy increase of blood... should I be worried?

Is your blood bright red or a darker color? I battled low iron for a long time, constantly had infusions but my hemoglobin would also go up and down at times and others it would stay the same. My ferritin levels were always in the tank.

I would call your doctor and let them decide if you should worry or not. I would be concerned if I saw more blood, personally.

Yes bright red but also my stool is super dark from iron supplements so I'm sure there's more mixed in there not super bright! I try to reach out to my doc to let her know but I rarely hear back. It's very frustrating.

A little bright red blood on tp can be many things. Blood colored fluids dripping out and coloring the bowl is not a hemorrhoid - it is friable inflamed tissue. The clots are also not typically hemorrhoids.

You may need some change in meds to manage inflammation, or at least diet to manage the symptoms. Low iron can proceed low hemoglobin. You may have bleeding related anemia in the not to far future.

I hope Entyevo works for you. I don;t know what you mean by failed mesalamines. IF it just means they were not enough, then taking them in conjunction with biologics is commonly done.

I apologize by failed I mean they tend to exacerbate my symptoms. I have an intolerance to them. Especially the Canasa and Lialda. Even if I could tolerate them my GI only gave me samples to last 3 months and never prescribed them to me. Even Prednisone didn't stop my bleeding. At this point I am waiting to get to 14 weeks on Entyvio and hopefully move on. I am feeling more and more like I'm going to be a candidate for surgery. Which I am open to but definitely frightens me. I just feel that I've been flaring and bleeding to some degree for so long that I am not being treated properly for all the extras issues that are occurring.

At what point do people get put on iron infusions? I've heard the pill form is also hard on the gut. I go for entyvio infusions couldn't they just order both?

The constant bleeding is what my issue was that was causing my low iron and ultimately led to me having a bowel resection to remove the troubled area it was confined to. The white count will rise due to inflammation

I have had excess bleeding for months!!

Stool sample shown no signs on inflammation/infections
Blood count was normal.

Im on pred 30mg. Pentasa and budesnoide and its working to a degree (one day il have reduce bleeding next day intense )

Starting to get very very depressed about it all.

my bleeding was due to giant pseudopolyps. They were everywhere on the left side of my colon. That constant slow bleeding was causing my iron issues

Jenna, if there's any doubt see your gasteroenteroligist and have him/her check and see exactly what is going on.

You could have a perianal fissure or perianal abscess on the surface. Do you have any pain when sitting or when pooping as that would make that more likely?

It could just be a worsened UC flare and an in-office flexible-sigmoidoscopy or rectoscope could assess.
