Administer the enemas when your bowels are least active, when your most likely to retain them. For example, you can do both, one after another, before retiring for bed in the evening (or space them apart a number of hours if you wish, any time that fits neatly within your schedule, as it really makes no difference on timing). Yes, lay on your left side at least 20 minutes after administering to get the maximum coverage area. Otherwise, it's likely to just pool within the rectum and not cover the full left side as intended.
Prednisone brain fog is the worst! It should go away after you've been off of pred for at least a couple weeks.
If you've been on pred that long, you might want to do a bone density test like a DEXA.
Doc said I should do one in the morning and another before going to sleep. I was given 4g enemas, this is the double dose enema right? And, are you saying I can get up afterwards if I wait for half an hour after administering it and it would still do it's thing? If so, I can read a book or something, I just thought I need to lie down for hours for it to work since it's mostly used before going to bed. Sorry, I'm not well versed in the working mechanism of the enemas.
Suppositories didn't do anything at all when I used them during a medium flare, years ago. I don't know if the enemas will work or not without pred. This will be the first time I'll be doing a "look ma, no pred!" thing.
