This is so great to hear. I had step 1& 2 a month ago (today actually) and have my appt with the surgeon next week to determine the date for the next step.
I've often questioned if this is all worth it. Granted I was readmitted to the hospital after the surgery with an obstruction. So it hasn't been an easy journey.
I've been worried about the second surgery-
How long I'll have to take off from work, will I have to wear depends until I learn how to control those rectal muscles, etc.
Anyhow, this is has been reassuring. Glad things have gone well for you!
it's been worth it for me because I was pretty much home bound with my colon. I couldn't excel at work, or even be a very good partner to my significant other. I was just sort of sitting around watching life pass me by, and that's the only way it could be, because I had no medical options. Either I invested my entire life to trying this, that and the other thing, likely without any response, or I have surgery and hope for the best. This has been much better for me. I never wore depends after reversal (with UC either but i've had many incidents while flaring). Have I ever had an incident post-reversal, probably 2 or 3 times, always in the middle of the night due to passing gas very carelessly - very early on in the healing process. Now I can fart with the best of them. I will be curious to see if you think it's worth it after you're reconnected. It's not like life preUC, but it is life without UC. Much more predictable, drug free, less limitations than a person with a chronic illness, less limitations than a person with a compromised immune system who is reliant on expensive drugs and doctors. it's got its good points & its bad points. It's hard to judge for a while after reversal. I feel like I am better now than I was at 1 year post op. At 3 months though, i was better than I had been in many years since developing UC.
