UC pain ? Abdominal pain ?

I'm no longer have any blood issues and no more 20 trips to the toilet

Butttttt I do stil have some intermittent abdominal pain ?

Could this be from the pred foam enema or pred supps ?

I'm also convinced I took too much mesalazine for a few weeks which may have not helped to abdominal pain !

Nope.

Also nope.

Untreated/lingering UC inflammation can cause lower abdominal pains and discomfort. Trapped gas or stool can cause pains. We can have joint pains. We can have muscle spasms within our colon which are very painful and take anti-spasmatic medications to calm it. We can have pains unrelated to UC within the densly packed area of the lower abdomen, things like pancreatitis, kidney stones, gallstones, and women can have various uterine pains that an OBGYN could diagnose.

Where is the pain occurring, can you be a bit more specific? How severe on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearable. When does the pain occur?

Pain appears to be around the outline of my large colon , so a bit left sided and then basically follow it around to the right side , well I'm assuming it's where my large colon would be

Pain basically feels like a small pinch , so maybe 3 or 4 out of 10 ?

No real pattern to when it is happening , not that I can work out anyway!

What is the stool consistency like?

how many times a day?

What were your UC symptoms before these symptoms?

what meds exactly now on?

Although your pain is quite widespread. I think it's important to realise that even without a flare you can have pain. We can still have IBS or wind, it could also be your body calming down still. Would anyone class as flare as just pain? Surely there need to be excessive bm, loose stool, blood or mucus?

Even in a two yar remission completely clear on scope I still had pain in iliac fossa. Would I notice it as much if I didn't have my diagnosis and history?

Evening / good morning both ....

Stool is type 3 or 4 on Bristol Stool so class it as normal

1 - 3 times a day for the last 2 weeks

Before ... "text book" bleeding fresh blood , really bad urgency , accidents , bad D, never any pain

Then they changed about the middle of July to no symptoms apart from a bit of darker blood around the stool , but no urgency , stool showed inflammation , which I suspect meant the end of the colon had healed but further up hadn't ....

I was on mesalazine supp and salofalk sachet , then went to pred foam and pred supp with salofalk sachet ....

Now stopped the salofalk sachet and put the pain down to excess use of those

I think I'm already ultra observant of my stool / pain / movements / anything really

I was going to stop the pred this evening I see what happens ?

Get back on the oral mesalamine....there are others to choose from.
That isn't the reason, because you were improving. You can't 9see that, however.

Your symptoms are classic while healing, but you don't have that experience as of yet since this is new.

What pred..specifically?

Do what you believe is best, but I'm fairly sure in my experience that you are healing, and this is meaning that the rectum inflammstion is less and lower than was previous. The signals change as do peristalsis.

you'll get more used to it! I remember being newly diagnosed and frantically checking every BM. The slightest change would make me think relapse. Eventually maybe a bit of acceptance comes in to play with these things. Obviously be vigilant for changes but don't over think things.

It gets easier, I think so anyway.

Thanks again both , I was diagnosed back in 2013 but never flared as significantly as I have the last year or so !

The pred is the foam enema 20mg dose , rectal foam - supp is 5mg pred

Not the scheme of things I know these aren't strong doses

Keep taking the salofalk , know the theory / mantra is treat both ends ?

I get that pinchy pain, but I'm not in remission.

You might ask your doc for a sed rate/CRP test to check for inflammation.
