How Common? Nausea on Remicade/Zofran prescribed

Hi all!

It's been awhile for me because I have been totally in remission since starting Remicade! Yay! I get it every 6 weeks.

After my last two infusions though, I have been experiencing nausea for 24 hours or so. I told my doctor and he prescribed Zofran as a premed for next time.

Anyone else experience this? I didn't think nausea was a common side effect, but maybe I'm wrong!

I'm glad to hear you are in remission!

Some people do get nausea on Remicade - I've heard of phenergan prescribed as a pre-med (you definitely need someone to drive you if you go that route).

I personally don't get nausea from Remicade, but my next dose will be a double-dose so crossing my fingers that doesn't cause any increase in side effects (I currently don't really have any side effects - I do take Benadryl and Tylenol as pre-meds).

Good timing - I just had my first 4-week infusion (I was doing every 8 weeks) and was thinking I need to take something to get ahead of the nausea. It sometimes shows up the 2nd or 3rd day after for me, and then goes away. I plan to take a Lorazepam to help with it.

Here's what I could dig up on the odds:

"Gastrointestinal
Very common (10% or more): Nausea (up to 21%), abdominal pain (up to 12%), diarrhea (up to 12%), dyspepsia (up to 10%)"

Seems a but high to me, as i can't remember many people posting about that symptom here.
