Uceris causing elevated BP?

Hi all,

I’m just shy of 2 weeks with Uceris and it seems to be helping (which is why I’m tolerating the—mild compared to pred—agitation and general desire to join fight club and then take a long nap). Which is great.

What is slightly weird is my blood pressure. I was at the hematologist yesterday to discuss iron infusions and they took my BP, which was 137/87.

Normally, my BP hovers somewhere just barely north of corpse—it’s the rarity that my systolic even breaks 100. Usually high 90s/70s is my normal.

According to Dr. Google, Uceris can cause elevated BP but it’s listed as a rare side effect. I’ll discuss with my GI when I call her next week for an update, but was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else and if it’s one of those things that docs typically ignore, given the temporary nature of the medication, or if it’s something that would require them to take me off the Uceris.

I assume my BP will go back to normal once I’m off it . . . ?

I know, as a generalization, steroids can mess with our bloodwork while on it. I forget all of the readings that specifically are inaccurate get bad readings as a consequence of being on pred (blood glucose for sure!). I asked my gasteroenterologist about them with my blood test results in-hand. Doc basically poo pooed it, said the numbers he watches were fine and everything else will return to normal once I'm off of the dreaded pred.
