Jpouch fix

Went to see my surgeon today. Going to have a little follow up surgery, he'll put me under and scrape my mucosa (sp?) to try to reduce the inflammation in my cuff as well as cauterize any fissures or hemmys if present. Should just be a 30 min procedure but give me some relief with the issues that I have left. I know some do this while undergoing initial surgery but due to the risks I guess my surgeon decided not to since most don't need it.

Still would have done the jpouch surgery any day of the week.

I had mucusectomy, is that what you're having? I've heard it's risky, and should only be done by surgeons who are very experienced with the procedure, as it can cause incontinence. That said, I have never had any issues with leaking. I wish you luck!

I am sure if I hadn't had it, there would be a high chance i would have issues. I've also heard it's common with a redo. it may help you a lot. I hope so!

Just clarify, are you sure the surgeon didn’t say CMs instead of inches? Usually rectal cuffs are 1-2 cms, so if it was 2 inches then you’d be at 5 cms which could be part of your issue. The surgeon could have built your rectal cuff too large increasing your risk of cufftis.

Had the surgery yesterday, back to work today. Pain is pretty good, and A LOT of blood when I use the rest room but that seems to be normal.

Doc said that everything went great and as expected. So far I have not lost my ability to hold it.
