Oral prednisone

I'm on day 3 of oral prednisone and although my symptoms are improving I still have some blood and mucus without bm although it was only once yesterday . I've not had a bm since starting them so dont know if they are more formed now . Is constipation normal ? I was told if I wasn't better within a week I would need to be admitted . Surely some improvement will keep me out of hospital ?

I never had constipation while on pred. It’s not like being on a narcotic where it can cause constipation. I’d call your doc. U may need a stool softer. Is there any stomach pain? I’d also be worried about an obstruction if you have pain and such. I don’t mean to worry you but I’d call the doc.

You can get constipation from inflammation. I'd call your doctor and mention it. He/she should be informed about your progress and your concerns.

Call your Doctor. But Pred does the same thing to me, slows my GI system way down, and I am considering a stool softener, which seems completely insane to me since i have had diarrhea more often than not for 17 years...but I do not like how the Pred remission makes me feel almost bloated...
