"good" CT scan results, and on toward surgery

I met the colorectal surgeon earlier last week, and had a CT scan later in the week.
I was impressed with the surgeon. His credentials look great, he has done 100+ laparascopic colorectal surgeries; he believes he can do a J pouch in a 2 step on me.
(I had read in some ostomy forums some good reviews of this guy also... so I am confident in him. The patients are the experts, in my opinion! lol)

Although I had talked with my GI over the weekend, and he had not received my results because he was away for several days, he was reassuring and said he would make sure the results got to me today. So I received results of the CT scan today, but was not available to answer, so received a voicemail... and the message from my GI was "All looks fine! Good News!" So at least my irrational fears about the scan showing some random issue in another organ proved to be unfounded. (In my job I visit a lot of ill people and hear horror stories like this.)
If I had answered in person I would have asked a dozen questions. But they can wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday.

I am starting to read the ostomy boards. (.. any particular recommendations, NSSG?)

Five weeks to surgery.....I am eager to be on the other side of it!

Good to hear CT was unremarkable and that surgery will go on as planned.

I am happy your scan looked good. It's weird, after surgery, the whole 'UC thing' can get pretty far from your mind. Sometimes the trips to the toilet are a reminder, but it all becomes routine and you're eating what you want, when you want, going where you want, living how you want... the toilet trips become pretty routine. I never really used any ostomy boards besides the one here. I know some people use facebook groups though. There's a big one called j-pouch group, or something along those lines, that many participate in. I believe it's quite large & active. There's also j-pouch.org. A lot of the reading ended up scaring me, you see stuff and you think omg, but then you go through it and surprisingly, it happens relatively quickly & all the things you saw and read about, you will experience in your own way. A lot of it is perspective. You will do great.

Glad that the scan resulted "good". (But sorry that your UC has gotten so complicated.) / Old Hat (37 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
