Infrequent points more toward it being a reaction to something, be it a food or some sort of contact-related issue from laundry detergents/body soaps/shampoos (although that could apply to females more than males? *shrug* not sure there). Can't hurt to buy some really mild detergent, and body soap and shampoo to try as a test.
The only time I've had burning sensations are urinating after holding it in an extremely long time (like for 4-hours during long car rides and not stopping) and due to dehydration. Call it dumb but I purposely dehydrate before a long drive, and try to stop at most once for a rest stop and when I do it isn't pleasant.
I had a kidney stone once, and that is double-you-over in pain kinda thing; debilitating (so not that).
Yup I do the same when driving lol and yea when it's really dehydrated that can be a cause too but temporary. Not this annoying feeling that lingers around.
Thankfully it's been gone since my initial post yesterday....though I've also been avoiding having a BM since then too because I don't want to deal with it lol I have a feeling it may come again during my next one but we'll see.

That's great. How frequently would you say you have to use the bathroom per day?
While I've had some really uncomfortable flares, my IBD on the whole seems less severe than some of the horror stories I've heard, and I've never tried 6-MP or TNF-alpha inhibitors so I presumably wouldn't consider surgery for a while unless something drastically changes
I don't keep track, but generally I empty when I urinate (6x or so). You can empty whenever you want. Of course there are times when you get the signal that you need to empty, if you wait long periods or eat a big meal, but on a normal day, I just go when I am in the bathroom. If you eat late, you may get up to empty in the night, that is something I hate. You can ward it off by eating earlier or taking imodium. People have tricks, but I definitely do not let the j-pouch alter my life like UC did.
You are definitely far off from worrying about
surgery, but it's good that you ask questions. Surgery was my biggest fear, and now I've faced it, and moved on. It's good to know that life can be good even if you're presented with your worst fear.Ah that's right, sometimes I forget / don't think about
how every time a girl urinates it involves sitting down and wiping anyway haha so emptying during that time probably doesn't change much in that case.
