Just noticed last night a little blood/yellowish color on my lower front shirt which is area around belly button/incision. Doesn't hurt. Not easy for me to see it bc wafer from bag overlaps it. Called surgeons office at 9 this morn and nurse said most likely it's a drain from incision. She said not to worry. I have visiting nurse coming today to change bag so she will be able to take better look at it since it's tough for me to see it 100%. Let's hope it's nothing

It's good your nurse is coming today. My wounds drained quite a bit for a while. It's likely normal, but better safe than sorry.

Visiting nurse said only a discharge. No infection. No temp. All good. Had me worried a little. Was blood and yellowish thought yellow color might of been infection. Also changed the bag by myself for first time with little help from nurse. Stoma started discharging little stool while we were changing Hadn't eaten in 6 hours Hopeing it wouldn't discharge while we were changing it. Oh well. It went well. Stool pretty formed. Don't want to take too much immodium. Will be careful.

I always changed mine first thing in the morning. That was the time when there was the least output for me. I could even shower without a pouch on change days and not have it output at all if I planned properly - which means showering before eating anything. I've heard of people eating marshmallows for help slowing things for a change though too. I wouldn't worry too much about being free of output for the nurse. I am sure the nurse has seen it all, plus, it's probably good practice for you to know what to do if it is active and you need to change (like with the loop). You're still in that early phase where you're probably having a lot of output. after a while things slow and you get better at changing, everything gets easier.

I'm also happy that it wasn't anything to worry about regarding the draining. After takedown, I had a suture that was sort of stuck and it turned into a mini infection. It hurt really bad and I thought I would need to be seen, but my surgeon said to put heat on it, and it came to the surface, and drained a little, then it was fine. It's pretty crazy how we heal. It's good you're being proactive smile

Nurse coming back Saturday to go thru routine again. Discharge when we were changing today was minimal. Just a pain in the butt trying to concentrate on fitting/cutting etc when the earthquake is rumbling. We got it done

I swear my stoma discharges stool every time I change it , and I don’t even eat a lot
I have no idea where all my poop is coming from waiting for it to slow down grr so don’t
worry about it coming out during changes
3timechamp have you found a bag you like yet
I am still trying different ones . I have tried a few hollister and coloplast 1 and 2 pieces and both had a few good ones I liked . Mio convex is a good one by coloplast the one thing i don’t like is it feels like I fill up the bag rather quickly . The Hollister Lock 'n Roll Micro seal is one I like now a lot it’s a two piece it’s what I get from the visiting nurse so far they have ordered me 3 boxes that come with 10 bags 10 wafers and wipes , powered spray etc., thinking this may be my last free box after that I am on my own to pay sad will get more free samples from the companies if I can .
I tired a convatec and hated it couldn’t clean the bottom without getting my fingers dirty ...!which is the worst. Very flimsy I think
Anyways glad the incision was ok 😊😊

Hospital gave me hollister and it seems fine. Haven't thought about what else is out there. Hollister seems fine. Nurse ordered me more yesterday.
