Biopsy could not confirm UC

Hello everyone, I am 21 years old guy. I had a flare in october. First 4 days, I went like 15 times daily to toilet. No blood, just belly pain. After 4 days I went to a doctor and he told me that it's acute gastroenteritis and gave me some pills and told me to change my diet. So I changed my diet a bit and took the pills and i started going less to toilet.. within a week I would go only once per day to toilet, but always diarrhea. I stopped the pills because I figured out it was not gastroenteritis, and was waiting to go back to my parents city and go to a doctor together (I was in university). For around one month, I would go once per day to toilet or once every 2 days, but it will always be diarrhea. I was always feeling pain before I go to toilet, but I was glad that I didn't feel pain whole day long. My girlfriend then suggested me some yogurt called yakult and told me that it's very famous in Asia( she is Asian). So I started drinking that for few days and I started having normal stools again. I am not sure tho if it was cuz of the yogurt because that month every day I would get better.

Since I became good, I went to my parents city and my parents wanted me to do some stool and blood test and I did. Everything was perfect. Then I go back to university , being perfectly healthy for 3 months. Three days before I return to parents city, I started having symptoms again. I started having diarrhea again(but not like first time), this time it was 1-3 times daily and I fixed my diet again as soon as possible and diarrhea was only once per day with some belly pain. So I decided to go to a specialist and he did me rectoscopy and saw that it was inflamed and suggested me a colonoscopy. So he did the colonoscopy and he told me I have colitis and we were waiting for biopsy results. I got my results after 10 days (by that time my stool was normal again) and I was eating anything. It's kind of hard to translate the biopsy results in english but I will try. It was saying something like "All the 15 pieces that were sent for biopsy could not confirm that I have ulcerative colitis and they named it infectious colitis. They did not say tho that I do not have ulcerative colitis, they said that biopsy can not confirm it. Doctor told me that's good news.

So after around a month, I went to a trip in Italy and started eating there only spaghetti and pizza and symptoms start again. This time even more mild. I would go to toilet once per day having diarrhea and it was usually after eating spaghetti. I would go to toilet around 2 hours after I ate spaghetti. After 2 hours I would have terrible belly pain and run to toilet. After that I was fine, but in the mornings I will get some small belly pains without tho the need to go to toilet. And last time I went to toilet, my diarrhea was kind of red. I was not sure if it was blood or cuz of the tomato sauce in pasta and lasagna that I ate the last days. If my biopsy could not confirm ulcerative colitis, then why did i "flare" again? I do not have the paper results right now with me since I am in university, but I was ask dad to e-mail me and I will do a better translation of the results. Any ideas?

The food you were eating could have just upset your stomach, and all the spaghetti sauce could be the reason your stool appeared red, spaghetti and pizza could give anyone stomach problems. Hopefully it really is just colitis so that it will go away

I am so confused with all this. So colitis goes away and it's not chronic?

Basically your inflammation is not UC at this point. It may be due to IBS, or to infecton. IF it continues long enough untreated, it could lead to permanent alteration of you gut microbes, or mucus layer, and involvement of you immune system. So, prolonged colitis can cause UC. That would be bad.

So guys if I had ulcerative colitis, the biopsy could confirm it without doubt? Yes today I stopped pasta and I feel better. But I doubt it can be gluten, because I eat all the time without problem

Biopsies identify IBD and UC when it is present. Your biopsies did not identify a UC.

Is there a tiny chance your infectious-colitis could later become an UC? Small odds but it could happen. I could win the lottery but it is unlikely to happen, as is the Infectious-colitis to UC thing.

"Infectious Colitis" is cured with a onetime course of medications. "Ulcerative Colitis" has no cure, and requires lifetime medication to control for the majority of us. They sound very similar in name, but have very different outcomes.

You have Infectious Colitis based on what you describe. Did they prescribe you any medications and did you take them?

You might have food-intolerances or it could be a coincidence.

Doctor was waiting for biopsy results before he prescribe me some medication and by the time biopsy results came out, I stopped having belly pain and diarrhea, so he didn't prescribe anything..

Please.....do you have the Pathology results? If not get a copy of them and share. You need to know since you're asking questions and you have access to part of the answers.
