I just go a message from express scripts that they cannot fill my current script for SF rowasa (currently using it every 2-3 days) because of a shortage of the medication. On the flip side, my doctor accidentally refilled my lialda script for 4 a day instead of 2 a day so maybe I will bump up to 3 once I run out of SFRowasa. I have a month left so hopefully they can get it, but ugh!

Hi, I actually called the manufacturer to ask what was going on. They said that their remaining stock of SFRowasa had an expiry date of less than a year so they could no longer ship it. They said that they may have new stock before the end of this month (March). Somehow my pharmacy managed to get them to ship some for me even with the short expiry.

If you are getting low, you may want to call the manufacturer. They seemed pretty helpful. Check the box for the company name.

OK good luck. Like I mentioned they were very helpful. Kind of surprised however that they would allow themselves to run out of a supply of the drug and stop shipping it. Those of us who are allergic to Sulphites rely on it.

I had called MEDA in 2013 when my local pharmacy wouldn't fill the script for me and they were so good at helping me find some options. I ended up going with express scripts because it was easier than driving 50 miles to pick up a script, and the woman I spoke with gave me her direct line to reach out. I don't have it any more, perhaps that was something I should have saved. It really is the only option.

Oh goody. I had to switch to Horizon BCBS and the only enemas they have on their formulary (mesalamine based) is the SFRowasa so I was just going to order them. Ugh, please let us know when they are back in circulation. It's always something!

I spoke with express scripts and got an email from Meda today. They should have them back on April 2 and express scripts is overnighting them to me free of charge.

Wow I'm so glad they are doing that for you!!! Good to know about April 2nd...thank you for updating us. I'll be starting a thread soon about the SFRowasa.
