Bowel ultrasound for UC monitoring

Has anyone ever done a bowel ultrasound to monitor UC?

I did one two months ago based on my new GI recommendation. He said that is a useful tool to differentiate between CD and UC, since sometimes you cannot tell that just from the colonoscopy and biopsies.

I have also asked if the ultrasound can determine the level of activity of the disease and the doctor told me it can. Mine came clear, nothing relevant noticed, but now I am wondering how accurate it is for mild disease activity. I was feeling fine until last week, but in the past few days I started to have again moderate discomfort in the abdominal area, especially after eating and after a bowel movement, and bloating.

I had an MRE before surgery. It showed what was going on throughout, it was interesting, but you can't get biopsies..

Did you get your report? I would imagine the only reason they could say crohn's vs UC from this would be if they saw involvement in the small bowel. The US can look at the full tract, the colonoscopy only looks at the colon, but a better visual would be a endoscopy or pill cam since you could visualize everything, and with the scope, you could get a biopsy to help confirm what you see..
