I just read a couple days ago that he returned to Mt. Sinai! Then today I heard that the WCMC colleagues he left are relocating to the newly built Koch skyscraper that has been under construction for years. / Old Hat (37 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I moved over to Mount Sinai with him; they gave him a new title and position.

I have no complaints about Weill Cornell and I was always well cared for there but I could see the level of stress with the staff and the high turnover that they had. Maybe you have seen the same thing?

I think that things are changing at WCMC and it is getting more even stressful, they have new directors and will have to bring in more money to pay for the new building. Dr. S was saying that they wanted him to spend a maximum of 10 minutes with each patient and that's not the way he does things. I've always spent 15-40 minutes with him each visit, especially when I was really sick.

I had a visit with him last month, their office was very relaxed, the staff was calm and everything went really smoothly.

I'm not a fan of the neighborhood but I'm not there to shop or eat. My concern is that if I ever needed to back into the hospital that I hate Mt Sinai's rooms and set-up.

I try to stay away from anything with the Koch name on it. I have funny pictures from when I was at HSS last year to get my hip replaced, he has his name on that building too. UGH.

I'm going for a scope next month, I had to wait for his accreditations to transfer over so my insurance company would cover the procedures.

He looked really relaxed and happy, I could see it without him even telling me. I've been a patient of his for 13 years.

Thanks for details, Keith. As a former city dentist of mine (whose bro was a doctor affiliated with Montefiore/A. Einstein) commented about 15 yrs ago: "New York hospitals dump on doctors!" I've seen this happening ALL the time. Last yr my gastro even commented that WCMC wants to institute the practice of "boutique medicine", which didn't surprise me because they routinely ask us patients to donate money and advertise special privileges for those who contribute at least $1,000 annually!!!!!!!! And Mt. Sinai is a bureaucratic mess, which has gobbled up the former Continuum partnership led by Beth Israel, resulting in a loss of in-patient facilities in the Greenwich Village area already drained by the financial collapse of the historic St. Vincent's Medical Center. I also agree with you RE that shameless hypocrite Koch who is always trying to destroy programs like Medicaid & Planned Parenthood that help lower-income people, while getting his name plastered on medical colleges + cultural centers to show himself off as a great humanitarian: he is a total egocentric rightwing phony!!!!!!! / Old Hat (37 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I stayed at 3 different hospitals in nyc; NYP, HSS, and Mount Sinai. I've only had problems at one hospital and that was Mount Sinai so needless to say I'm a little concerned. But their office was really nice.

I'm so down on Mt. S. They hassled me for 15 mo. during 2016-17 over a $23 charge I didn't owe them, & which my insurance declined to pay. I went to the Madison/E. 102nd bldg for a physician consult only, where they 1st seated me in a huge waiting room & gave me about a dozen papers to fill out, including an advanced directive. Last yr I finally got a clerical supervisor on the phone who told me the $23 charge was a "facilities fee", which I had to pay or they would turn my bill over to their collection agency. I then asked why I should be charged for just having sat in a waiting room chair & filled out unnecessary papers. The supervisor replied that since they had a copy of the papers I filled out that day, it constituted "proof" that I owed the facilities fee-- so there was no way for me to win my argument! I thought that was a deceptive practice & reported the details to the Medicare fraud line, but did not hear from them afterward. Therefore, I hope never to need any contact with Mt.
