Hi yall, Im a 15 year old girl and ive lived with colitis for 10 years now. Im a generally upbeat happy person at cool with many friends and im on the cheer squad. I was actually diagnosed 5 and a half years ago after being on laxatives for 5 years. Since my diagnosis, after about 6 months of being on any medication it begins to stop working. I feel good for about 4 months and hope that maybe its the right medicine but it always gives up once i hit that 6 month point. I was put on Methotrexate last march which had worn off near July then on remicade with the Methotrexate then weened off methotrexate. Now im currently on remicade and have an infusion next week but haven't felt any better since my last infusion. Ive missed a few days of school due to late nights running between my room and the bathroom combined with early mornings for school. Food in general makes me nervous because it hurt so bad to use the bathroom and im running back and forth for hours. Ive also been really tired and lethargic. Im getting my rem levels tested before my infusion but since ive been more symptomatic then i was enforce i even started remicade, im afraid of what my doctor will say. Honestly, im jut tired of all the medications. There was a point about 2 years ago where i was taking 15 pills a day including steroids which made me put weight on quicker and that doesnt help with being a teenager. Im afraid im either going to have to have another scope or get my remicades moved to every 4 weeks or shell just add yet another prescription to my list of medications. My doctor never order blood tests since it always looks clean but im afraid of what she could be missing.
If anyone has any advice, please let me know
