What helps rectal inflammation?

I think I have rectal inflamation. Reason why is because I have so much urgency to go like all the time even when I don’t have to. Let me know if it doesn’t have anything to do with it but I think it is. No pain in my rectum. What can help win this?

Mesalamine enemas, available by prescription, work very well to lower rectal inflammation. Brand name is Rowasa in US but available as generic too, made by at least 2 pharma companies.

These are retention enemas, unlike other enemas that are used to relieve constipation (and not retained in rectal area). It can take a little patience and trial to use mesalamine enemas successfully but it's worth the benefits.

Mesalamine suppositories are also available. Easier to use but they reach less area than the enemas do. I got much more benefit from enemas than suppositories but other people here like/use supps.

Enemas, canasa, steroid supps, steroid enemas, foam enemas, any type of rectal med. Sounds like tensemus and it's basically a symptom of activity, but in my case, it didn't mean it was limited to the rectum, so even if I treated that area like mad, it wouldn't necessarily mean I saw loads of improvement. You should get scoped to see what's going on.

Yes, definitely sounds like rectal inflammation.

Retention enemas, suppositories, or foams all go straight to the source and you can get prescription anti-inflammatory mesalamine-based ones and steroid ones. There's a little, initial "ick" factor to it, but in the end, they're one of the most effective meds we have (whereas the oral pills are inconsistent and poor at treating the rectum). The results speak for themselves, and they can help you regain your quality of life. I'd ask your gasteroenteroligist about a prescription for rowasa/pentasa/salofalk/mesalamine retention enemas.
