First time poster and newly diagnosed with UC (Feb 2018)
I am currently taking Humira (1 shot bi-weekly) and mesalamine pills (2 1.2mg pills in the AM) to treat severe UC. I have unfortunately developed my first head cold since being on these medicines and am not sure what would be okay to take. I know that NASIDs are a no... but are there things that would be OK to take to alleviate symptoms? So far, I ache, am extremely tired, and have a runny nose.
Any advice is much appreciated!

I don't see any reason you can't take any Tylenol cold product... I will take Tylenol Cold or Tylenol Sinus products when I have a cold that is so bad I can't just ride it out.

Take what you need.....decongestant, mucinex expectorant, tylenol, fluids, increase vitamins A, C, zinc...
Get well soon...welcome to the forum.

I've safely taken guafenisin (generic expectorant) and Claritin 12 and 24 hr which really helped my head pain due to sinus pressure and when things were really bad Claritin-D helped a lot, the "D" means decongestant.
I
really read the ingredients
because many of the same ingredients are in many of the "multi-symptom" over-the-counter preparations by different manufacturers. Only one time did a "multi-symptom" make me feel worse and it wasn't my UC acting up it was the pill itself. (Wrote on that packet "do not take" so I didn't take it again when my memory failed. Didn't throw it away cause then I'd really forget which one was bad for me.)

Imagarener..... can definitely see that happening. Careful to not use antihistamine throughout the cold. It will overdry secretions and cause a build-up of mucus. First day when dripping and loose watery snot is fine when trying to function....but some antihistamines cause drowsiness too...ugh....it can set one up for other issues in sinuses and chest.
I forgot to mention sinus rinse methods, decongestant spray only once a day for a few days to sleep, and saline sprays and gels.
Oh, and ice cream....it's a non-recognised treatment when desperately needed.
