Definitely get checked for c-diff!
Yes I did triple ABX and it cleared up the stubborn inflammation in my rectum and sigmoid. My Mayo doc was really mad about it, which is weird since he was the one to write the prescription. He has ranted about my UC possibly being Crohn's ever since despite the fact that the biopsies always indicate U.C... weird. He says ABXs never work for U.C., even though the triple ABX study in Japan was done exclusively with U.C. patients and had pretty good success. He is very old school, but exceptional with clinical stuff, so I keep him! I always see the NP for everything else now.
What I meant by inflammation outside the colon, is inflammation somewhere else in the digestive tract (small intestine, ileum, etc.).
How sure is mayo that you have Crohn's? I would get a second opinion, because if I were you I would probably be ready for a j-pouch.
The IBD AID diet is actually sustainable for me, it has only a few limits on fruits and veggies. Raw honey is the sweetener you have to use, and you just have to avoid grains (except for oats) and refined sugar.
