Still dark green diarrheal, just had flex scope, cholestyramine anyone?

Hello, The doctor prescibed cholestyramine for “possible Bile Acid Diarrea” I still have my gallbladder. I had dark green mud or diarrhea. that’s why I went in for a flex scope, it was dark green And explosive , like “dumping and smelled rotten” and Always in the middle of the night, I didn’t sleep for weeks!!I had a full colonoscopy in October, both show severe UC. All blood work is normal for the most part. Inflammation markers high. Calprotein high.



I took my first dose of cholestyramine yesterday morning and by night time, boy oh boy my stomach and upper GI felt bruised like, bad indigestion. Pressure maybe? I took it at 9 am by 6pm I was burping, and in pain. I was like I hope this isn't pancreatitis . I expericed that with 6mp. But I still took my evening dose and this morning right under and in the middle of my stomach is still tender. I didn’t even take a full packet like it says to take.i took half dose twice in day. I drank plenty of water with it too.

I’m on my asacol HD, enemas and waiting for my stool cultures to come back.

Anyone else take cholestyramine? I heard you can mix with Metamucil too.

ALL tests for bacterial bacteria came back negative, good I guess burn this green d is a mystery

Tam, I searched in the archives & found a lot of old posts about members being on it. Quite a few were on it for years with very good results. However, none of them mentioned having the issues that you are having after one dose. If things don’t settle down Welchol is another one in that class you may want to consider.
