can I ask you all a super quick question? My daughter has been put on pred again, I had lots of messing around with her GP today who receives an email from her IBD specialist asking him to write a prescript
ion for me to pick up. I have finally got the pred I need but the GP has not included the calcium or omeprazole that is usually prescribed at the same time and they have now left for the day, do you think 40g of pred for a few days (possibly until Tuesday/Weds) without the calcium will be OK (I can't buy the other otc but not the calcium)?

She will only be on that dosage then off for 4 or 5 days?

My GI never prescribed anything in addition to prednisone. If I took calcium it was whatever I got on amazon or in the drug store. I did end up needing omeprazole however, as pred casues a lot of people issues with acid reflux. It doesn't work that well until you've been on it for a while I believe. I never noticed too much benefit from omeprazole while on pred but it can't hurt. Since being off pred, my acid issues are gone.

sorry I meant I won't be able to organize calcium through the doctor until next Monday and assuming it takes a while before I get the prescript
ion and get it filled I am thinking probably Tuesday or Wednesday - she will be on it for 10 weeks. I tried buying the calcichew D3 tablets on the prescript
ion before and couldn't - perhaps I can get some type of calcium supplement over the counter to tide her over. Yes when we have had it before both were also prescribed at the same time - but not this time even though they were on the request! Thank you both!

I would buy the OTC and get the script
when you can next week.
Good luck. Hoping she feels better quickly and stays in remission forever.
