It is time for my annual blood test to check on my kidney & liver functions. I do this since I started taking Mezavant. Iron is also included, I have my iron checked twice a year since I have a tendency to get low on iron at which point I need to take iron pills. The standard blood chemistry things are measured at the same time.
I am just recovering from a very bad cold right now. It "peaked" on Saturday and I am much improved today but it is still here. My test is on Thursday so even if I am not feeling any symptoms by then I know that some items like neutrophils will be off. I don't care about neutrophils. The only items I am interested in is the liver, kidney, and iron markers. Does a cold have any impact on those??
Why not just wait until next week or the week after? Well. I have booked my appointment on Thursday so I can just waltz in, bypass the waiting room, and waltz out again in a matter of minutes. But there are limited slots to book and you have to do it about 6 weeks in advance and I need to do the test this month. So I guess I could just show up with a lot of reading material and sit there for a couple of hours but... ugh.
Anyone have any words of wisdom??

I am not aware of any connection between a cold and the markers you are concerned about.

I don't believe the markers you care about would be affected by having a cold. If there's any doubt, then reach out to your doctor's office and ask. Worst-case is you hold off on the blood draw another week until you've recovered.
I'd assume a cold would affect WBCs, not sure what else.

Okay thanks, Spring and iPoop, that's kind of what I was thinking. I'll see how I feel tomorrow and make my final decision.
