Cheers to combo-therapy. That's a massive knockout punch, biologic and Cyclosporine/tacrolimus at initiation.

Cyclosporine or tacrolimus is certainly something that a lot of gasteroenteroligists are a bit leery to prescribe and use broadly. I believe the clinical trials of Cyclosporine/tacrolimus alone were rather poor.
Therefore most look at it as a last ditch effort when IV steroids fail. I've read of tacrolimus-suppositories being used here by some UC patients.

My GI said I would have to stay in the hospital for treatment with tacrolimus, but i decided not to bother with it since I had been so sick previously. I am not sure how long I would have continued it after being released from the hospital, if at all, but she said the initial induction would need to be under inpatient hospital monitoring. Perhaps some doctors do it without.

I wonder how the follow up is after two years or three years. One year is relatively short. not sure it's all worth it to gain a year.
