I was 55 years old this year, so I was offered bowel cancer screening as part of an NHS programme. I went for the procedure today. This was an endoscopy, involving the rectum and the descending colon. The procedure also includes removal of all polyps or other suspect tissue, if required.
Nothing untoward was found, no polyps, growths or inflammation. The medic observed that the surface of the colon was 'pebbly' in places, typical of someone with inflammatory bowel conditions, but overall well under control. She also pointed out that she was impressed with how well LDN and my dietary regime seem continue to manage my condition. I cannot tell you how elated I am that I am not on the heavy duty immuno-suppressants I began with years ago. I'm sure they were doing me more harm than good.
Apart from occasional discomfort around the area of the top end of my descending colon I have had no syptoms since my Easter flare. As I reported some months ago, high work stress seems to be my main trigger, with a high FODMAP diet implicated too. Two weeks ago, after another stressful episode in my school, I did get discomfort, but no more than that..
Happy Days!
