Lialda - Vertigo (Dizziness)

Hello - I have been dealing with periods of extreme dizziness that seem to last for about 3 to 5 minutes. I do not get headaches, but have trouble maintaining balance as everything starts spinning. I also seem to be more susceptible to the bouts when I am active (running, playing basketball, lifting weights). I am currently taking max dosage of 4 pills of Lialda every morning and the dizziness has seemed to coincide with when I started taking this medication for my UC.

Additionally, the frequency has definitively increased the last few days when I started taking antibiotics for a head cold that my PCP placed me on.

Can anyone offer any insight as I am about to try getting off Lialda as the dizzy spells are so intense and a little scary?

Are you staying aptly hydrated? Staying hydrated can be a challenge for us during flares due to the frequent bathroom trips and diarrhea. When dehydrated we can be very dizzy, have headaches, etc etc. In that case receiving hydration is key, hydrate a lot yourself or get a saline IV hooked up....

Is lialda your only med? I've never seen anyone on this site with that complaint but anyone can react to medication in their own way.

Lialda gave me migraines, which were accompanied by dizziness.

And when I say migraines, I don't mean a headache. It was intense periods of feeling dizzy and blurry vision and a bit of nausea. It got so bad they had to give me a shot to "break" the migraine. So yeah, it is possible. But I would make sure you are super hydrated all the time and free of your head cold before assigning blame to the medicine. I also have sinus issues, which tend to get into my ears, and can produce similar symptoms. We ruled that out first.
