Anybody else find some relief avoiding foods high in these compounds?
Apparently sulphur & sulphites feeds sulphite-reducing bacteria, creating toxic hydrogen sulphide gas, which causes damage to the colon and partially implicated in the pathogenesis of UC.
It's a very particular rotten egg smell.
Sulphites are hidden in many foods as preservatives.
Cabbage/broccoli of course high in sulphur. Red meat, eggs, cheese. Some spring waters high in sulphur.
